George Brown Memorial Sprint Meeting at East Kirkby
The rescheduling of the Coventry section trip to
East Kirkby from Saturday 10 September 2016 to Sunday 11 to avoid heavy rain
paid off, as the Sunday was cold but bright and dry. Five members of the
section, including three on Vincents, were rewarded by an excellent display of
classic sprint and drag racing machinery being used in anger.
The highlights
for me were of course the Vincents, but I was also delighted by two others. The
first was the extraordinary Dragwaye, powered by a supercharged 1300cc VW
engine. I had read about this machine but never seen it. This was it's first
outing for 30 years, and it was very loud. The other bike was the bike I dreamt
of building when I was 16, -a supercharged, nitro burning C15!
All in all an
excellent day out out well worth repeating in 2017. Rob Staley.
